Iota-Alpha's roots trace back to the formation of the Navajo Club formed on Ball State's campus around 1919.
The Iota-Alpha chapter of Lambda Chi Alpha was established at Ball State University, transitioning from the Navajo Club into Lambda Chi Alpha.
Over the next five decades Iota-Alpha functioned as one of Ball State’s IFC chapters, participating in campus life, philanthropy, and housing being continuously active from 1951 through the early 2000s.
National officials closed the Iota-Alpha chapter around 2004–2005 for failure to meet national standards after a major incident the brought forth several sanctions.
Lambda Chi Alpha began expansion efforts and officially regains an on campus presence at Ball State.
After a two year expansion effort Iota-Alpha officially met the Lambda Chi Alpha standards in philanthropy, community service, and campus involvement and regained the charter with 40 new Founding Fathers.
Iota-Alpha had a very successful return to campus highlighted by heavy involvement within Student Government Association, Freshman Orientation, and Residence Life. This involvement helped the chapter win the IFC Chapter of the Year award in 2013.
Due to gradual membership declines over several years the chapter (along with guidance from Alumni Advisors) decided to self-close. While Iota-Alpha is no longer active on Ball State's Campus, this is not the end of our story.
